About

I love history, and I love books. That’s what prompted me to start The Bookish Historian. The Bookish Historian is a collection of book reviews and articles about books, history, travel, and other topics near and dear to my heart. I hope that you will learn a little something as this website grows, and that you will enjoy this journey with me!

About Me

I’m Amy, just your average amateur historian, bookworm, Anglophile, animal lover, wanderluster, and nerd. I have loved history for as long as I can remember, especially when I was part of Academic Decathlon in high school.

I pursued a bachelor’s in history at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin. After a year off, I moved onto graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for a Master of Arts in Public History and a Master of Library and Information Science with a concentration in archives.

Professionally, I’ve worked in both academia and the corporate world. I currently work in IT at a university outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I also started my own consulting company in 2018 called Bocwine Consulting (bocwine meaning “book-friend” in Old English), where I provide writing, editing, and technology consulting services. For more information, please check out my profile on Upwork.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, gaming, traveling, and hanging out with my fiancé and two cats, Lily and Darth!
