In this deeply evocative memoir, written in an attempt to persuade the American federal government to vote against annexation, Lili’uokalani traces her story from childhood to queen regnant. It’s a story of American imperialism and deceit but also a story of a remarkable woman and how she shaped modern Hawaiian history.
